The John Deere A was a row-crop tractor manufactured by Deere & Company in Waterloo, Iowa, USA. It was produced in a wide variety of versions for special-purpose cultivation, and was the first Deere tractor to come from the factory with rubber tires. The A was John Deere’s first true row-crop tractor, replacing the GP. The John Deere A had a 5.1L 2-cylinder all fuel engine, 4-speed unsynchronized gear transmission, and mechanical expanding shoe brakes. The tractor weighed 3783 lbs.
